Diouf faces jail term Senegalese football international El-Hadji Diouf faces a six-month jail term for punching and injuring an ex-wife of Bolton team-mate Khalilou Fadiga, legal sources said on Wednesday. The prosecutor in a regional Dakar court has "demanded six months in prison for El Hadji Ousseynou Diouf, star of our national football team, for punching and injuring Aisha Ba, ex-wife of Khalilou Fadiga," Ba's lawyer Doudou Ndoye told the private Sud FM radio station. The controversy-prone forward was not present at the court hearing on Tuesday, the radio reported. The incident between Diouf and Ba — who lives in the French city of Nice — occurred in a nightclub in Dakar in September, and left the woman unable to work for 25 days, according to Ndoye. Diouf's lawyer Demba Cire Bathily told AFP that his client had received no notification from the court, or otherwise he would have been present. Bathily explained that Diouf had been approached by Ba, who had wanted to speak to him. Diouf refused and "only pushed her", the lawyer claimed. The court will reconvene on December 20. Diouf faces more court action in England, where he has been based since 2002. He is set to stand trial at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Thursday on charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol. Earlier this year Diouf was charged following an incident in his team's Premiership clash at Middlesbrough last November, when a home fan alleged he spat at him while leaving the pitch at the Riverside Stadium. Diouf was fined £500 and ordered to pay an additional £500 in costs by after admitting to 'reckless behaviour'. The striker signed for Bolton from Liverpool after a loan spell. He was initially brought to England by former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier, who bought him from French club Lens for £10-million in 2002. Diouf was disciplined by Bolton and the Football Association last season after spitting in the face of Portsmouth captain Arjan de Zeeuw. During his time at Liverpool, he was convicted of a public order offence and fined £5 000 after spitting at Celtic fans during a UEFA Cup tie in March 2003.AFP
